Health and Safety Policy

Wayne Watson Construction Ltd., first and foremost, is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for its employees through the use of a comprehensive health and safety program.  It is company policy to provide first quality service while taking all reasonable steps to prevent injury to employees, the customer and the public, and to prevent damage to property.  To achieve this objective the company will comply with WCB, federal, provincial, local and industry safety regulations.  The company cannot meet this goal without full cooperation from all personnel.  This cooperation is needed and expected.

Management personnel are responsible for the health and safety for the provision of safe working conditions.  Management shall promote and support the company health and safety program and ensure that all employees are informed of what is expected of them regarding health and safety.  All management personnel are accountable for their decisions, actions and results.

Supervisors are responsible and accountable for ensuring safety instruction is provided to all new and reassigned employees prior to assignment of their duties and that safe work procedures and regulations are enforced.  Supervisors shall ensure that there is a regular inspection of practices and conditions in the area of their control and that prompt corrective action is taken to eliminate hazards.

Forman shall set a good example by following all safety regulations and by providing all safety activities addressed in the safety program.  Foremen shall ensure that workers are properly instructed to do their jobs safely and that workers comply with applicable rules, regulations and practices.  Foremen shall take prompt corrective action when unsafe acts or conditions become evident.

Workers and subcontractors shall observe all safety rules and regulations and conduct themselves in a manner that does not endanger the well being of themselves or others, or cause property damage.  Workers and subcontractors shall report all accidents and injuries immediately and are encouraged to submit recommendations for improved safety measures.  Subcontractors shall provide their own appropriate safety equipment where required by Wayne Watson Construction Ltd. policy and WCB regulations and shall provide for their own WCB coverage.

Visitors shall comply with the company safety program.

The company health and safety program is designed in the best interests of all personnel, sub-contractors, visitors and customers.  The company believes accident prevention and efficient production go hand in hand and accordingly insist on a dedicated participation in its requirements.

Wayne Watson Construction Ltd. recognizes safe work practices, and offers incentives for employees.  Safety awards are presented upon completion of accident free intervals.
